After dark the effect reverses: with lights on under the pergola, shapes and movement can be made out from outside. Treat the blinds as daytime privacy rather than full night-time screening.

Yes, it can be added after installation. However, the blind integrates directly into the pergola frame and is designed to be fitted during the initial assembly process. Retrofitting would require partial disassembly of the pergola structure, so we recommend adding side blinds at the time of original installation, where possible.
